Commenting on the news that the Bull Hire scheme is to be retained, Orkney MSP and Liberal Democrat spokesman for Rural Affairs, Liam McArthur, said, "This is welcome news indeed. Liberal Democrats have been campaigning to save the bull hire scheme for over a year.
"The previous Minister tried to kill the scheme off. I am glad that under pressure from across the crofting counties and MSPs throughout the chamber Roseanna Cunningham has been dragged kicking and screaming into accepting the case for retaining this valuable scheme."
